Invitation Letter

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

it is with great pleasure that we announce the 3rd international symposium on coccyx disorders on 2021, June 24th and 25th.

After the successful start in 2016 in Paris, initiated and organized by Jean-Yves Maigne and Levon Doursounian and the second three day event in Dordrecht, organized by Marijke Slieker-ten Hove three years ago, Algesiologikum — Centers for Pain Medicine, Munich has the honor to host the 3rd symposium on coccyx disorders — COCCYX 2020.

We made much progress in understanding and treating painful coccyx conditions, but still, many things remained unclear and still too many patients are suffering from this special pain syndrome. Too many patients aren’t diagnosed and treated appropriately and are passed on from one physician / therapist to the next. "If tailbone pain was a nail, who has the right hammer?".

COCCYX 2020 wants to widen the focus and take a broader view on tailbone pain. Thus we've entitled this symposium "The tailbone and it's neighbourhood" in the intention to get a 360° perspective of the problem, and arrive at new solutions.

Over two days, many experts from very different fields will present their work and share their expertise. Highlight of the program is a panel discussion. Based on a case report, four experts will discuss their various approaches in diagnosis and therapy, thus trying to draw the most comprehensive picture of this special pain syndrome.

Due to the current situation (COVID-19 pandemic), the COCCYX 2020 Scientific Program Committee has decided to hold our international symposium online.

We're looking forward to meeting you all! Until then, stay healthy!

Best wishes,

Dr. Reinhard Thoma
